Sometimes a book comes to the top of my to-be-read pile at just the right time (thank you, Holy Spirit, in the person of a very good friend!). The Book of Joy by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu was just such a book earlier this year. Many of us have spent the last 2 years (or more) wondering how to find and keep a sense of joy in our lives in the midst of so many personal and global challenges. I invite you to join me in a journey through this beautiful book filled with the wisdom of two of the modern world’s greatest faith leaders. A side benefit is learning more about the practice of Buddhism and seeing the Archbishop and the Dalai Lama model how people of different faiths can have deep, meaningful conversations, respecting and learning from one another’s traditions while remaining firmly planted in one’s own.
We’ll meet the fourth Sunday evenings of May, June, July, and August starting May 22. Time: 6:30 for about an hour and a half--location TBD. Note that there will be up to 90 pages of reading for each session and you’ll need to get a copy of the book. Our public library has copies and of course various editions are available from your favorite bookseller.
Please contact Pr. Jodi if you’d like to join or if you have questions. firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-260-2981
