St. Cuthbert Pilgrim’s Prayer

All praise to you O God for inviting me on this pilgrimage,

To experience you in the splendor of nature and the sacredness of ancient paths.

I set out this morning with eyes open wide,

Eager for you to illuminate my heart with the wonders you will show me

            and the surprises you have in store.

I trust you to provide me with

            Strength when I am weary,

            Compassion for myself and others,

            Patience, good humor, and peace.

St. Cuthbert walked this landscape to find quiet for prayer and reflection, to be awestruck where heaven felt close at hand, and to see your chosen path for him.

Grant me all that I need to walk like St. Cuthbert.
