This is a long flight from Cincinnati to Chicago and then to Madrid

All 16 pilgrims made it safely to Madrid.  Tomorrow morning we leave for Sarria to begin the Camino on Friday.

It’s official!  All sixteen members of our group met in Madrid and began our Camino journey today.  That said, it wasn’t too exciting because we didn’t do any walking  - we rode a bus from Madrid to Sarria (about a five ride).  The true pilgrimage starts tomorrow morning at 8:30AM.

Greetings from Galicia in Northern Spain!

When our bus from Madrid dropped us off last night at our hotel in Sarria, it was pouring down rain.  The forecast for the next day was rain all day and low forties in the morning.  We all put on positive faces but I think we went to bed thinking walking all day in the cold hard rain was going to be quite a challenge, both mentally and physically.  We had all prepared to be hot on the Camino— not cold. - Read more...

We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us.

Hello Good Shepherd Flock

I am writing on the night of Pentecost from Melide. A city famous for it’s cooked octopus (which several of our pilgrims enjoyed at the end of today’s journey.)

We left Melide under a bright sun.  After crossing through the town’s main roads, the Camino path opened into a wooded area that set the stage for most of our day.  Along the 9 mile stretch, the beauty of God’s creation felt almost overwhelming at times.  Beauty everywhere-

The pilgrims are still doing well. Today they have offered some things for which they are thankful. And there are more pictures...

115 km complete!  One sign we see along the Way tells us that Santiago de Compostela is our goal on the Camino.  We start each day having breakfast together and head out for our walk to the next town spending an hour quietly with God and end each afternoon with the speedy folks coming in quickly and small groups of pilgrims trickling in for the next several hours.  Read more...
